British Canoeing

Graphical signage designed and produced for the home of GB Olympic and Paralympic canoe slalom.

British Canoeing is the national governing body for Olympic and Paralympic canoeing in Great Britain, responsible for supporting athletes in the Olympic disciplines of Canoe Slalom and Canoe Sprint. British Canoeing will also manage the Paracanoe teams at Rio 2016, which will be the first time that the sport has been included in the Paralympic Games.

As part of the refurbishment of British Canoeing’s offices at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, one of the NGB’s three High Performance Centres, 100AND10% was asked to design and produce a number of large-scale pieces of artwork.

The aim for the office makeover was to re-capture the spirit of London 2012 and to showcase to staff and visitors the achievements of Team GB, which included winning both gold and silver in the men’s Canoe Double (C2) Slalom competition.

Seven pieces of artwork were designed by the 100AND10% creative team, incorporating athlete quotes, motivational sayings and action imagery; two of the athletes represented are Team GB’s Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott, who won Olympic gold at the Lee Valley venue.

The montage graphics were installed in hallways, meeting rooms and staff facilities and were designed to accurate dimensions to fit around doorways, power sockets and varying ceiling heights.

The artwork was produced using GreenTex™, an innovative product that is becoming increasingly popular for wall coverings as a result of its robustness and flexibility in size for print.
